INTER-UNI MUN 2021 RESCHEDULED
Inter-Uni MUN 2021 has been rescheduled to the 11th and 13th of February 2022.
MESSAGE FROM THE SECRETARY-GENERAL

Dear Inter-Uni ComMUNity,
I hope that you are all doing well! I thought I would not have to write something like this again but here we are.
The Secretariat of Inter-Uni MUN 2021 took a vote a few weeks ago on the official dates of our conference and we have three major updates for you all.
Foremost, the conference has been rescheduled and will be going ahead one week earlier. This decision was not made lightly and was in consideration of various factors including but limited to the commencement of university semesters/trimesters and the dates of Mardi Gras 2022.
The next major decision we took was to revamp our Reconnection project. First off, we have decided to officially extend the conference dates. Essentially we will commence on Friday, 11 February 2022. This decision was made so attendees are able to have more committee session time on Saturday, 12 February 2022, and Sunday, 13 February 2022. We understand that we have been organised and marketed as a 2-day conference and, in turn, the first date (Friday, 11 February 2022), will actually be an OPTIONAL HYBRID day. What this means is that it will continue to be a ‘Day 0’ and you do not have to come on Friday. We will be keeping the price of our tickets the same so Friday becomes an extra experience for those who have the time to come in-person. The hybrid option then comes in as we will be recording the MUN training session and guest speaker panels and emailing the recordings to all other attendees who cannot come on the Friday. We will be also opening a live form so you can also virtually participate if you want as well. More information about this will be published soon so do not worry too much. A conference schedule will also be published soon with clearer details and times. Additionally, please feel free to email us about your schedule and we will try our best to accommodate your circumstances.
As part of this revamp and reset, we will also be renovating our committee topics. The committees which will continue to be the same as before are UNHRC, DISEC and UNSC Crisis and IPG. We have decided to close our COP26 treaty negotiation committee and will be opening a new and exciting environmental committee (look out for our announcement later this week). I have also made the executive decision to open committee country/position preferences and this will be published on our website soon.
Thank you for reading through my lengthy message and I hope that everything made sense. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to email or contact us through inter.uni.mun@gmail or our social media platforms. We will also be emailing everyone, who has already registered, in the next week in order to help you navigate through our changes.
Kind Regards,
Julia | Secretary-General
INTER-UNI MUN 2021 SECONDÂ POSTPONEMENT
Inter-Uni MUN 2021 will no longer be held from the 18th to 19th of September. Alternatively, we have further postponed the conference to the 19th and 20th of February 2022.
MESSAGE FROM THE SECRETARY-GENERAL

Dear Inter-Uni ComMUNity,
I genuinely hope that everyone is doing well and staying safe wherever you are situated currently.
Inter-Uni MUN 2021 will be postponed to the 19th and 20th of February 2022. This is not a sentence that is discussed lightly and not one we had hoped to use as we approach September. However, it is the most appropriate decision as we believe in the prioritisation of health and safety during the current state of global and national disruptions. We have thought of other possibilities such as a cancellation (Plan F) or moving to an online platform (Plans C or E). After serious deliberation and given the logistics of the event, a postponement (Plan D) was the most pertinent decision.
The date was chosen after a cross-reference between numerous university, MUN and national calendars and dates. We wanted to ensure that our conference does not clash with too many significant events and can occur in a safe environment. We have also monitored the current COVID-19 cases within Australia and the national vaccination rate. By combining the information and statistics we have collected, we deduced that February would be a practical and logical month for the new dates.
Another major decision we made can be observed to be similar to the Tokyo Olympics. Although the conference will now occur in 2022, the Secretariat has agreed to keep the name Inter-Uni MUN Conference 2021 due to various factors. This decision, for the most part, was due to the logistics behind the event. As we maintain the 2021 branding, we can keep many of the marketing material and ideas we have already decided on (there will be some exciting updates). This conference is also a travelling one, and as the Secretariat will not change, it is only suitable for us to call ourselves as the 2021 Secretariat.
Considering that this is a conference made for university students by university students, it is my responsibility as the Secretary General to stay transparent and honest with all attendees. Over the next few days I will be updating our website and our social media platforms. I will also be updating our refund policy and our conference schedule for a better experience. Our USG for Delegate Relations will be reaching out to all attendees who have already purchased a ticket. Over the next few weeks we will also be taking a rest from marketing our conference and instead support MUN conferences who had to move online.
Thank you everyone for taking an interest in our conference. If you have any concerns or inquiries, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We may not respond immediately as all Secretariat members have to juggle full-time study and part-time work but we will promise to respond within 1-5 business days.
Sincerely,
Julia | Secretary-General
INTER-UNI MUN 2021 POSTPONED
Inter-Uni MUN 2021 will no longer be held from the 31st of July to 1st August. Alternatively, we have postponed the conference to the 18th and 19th of September.
MESSAGE FROM THE SECRETARY-GENERAL
Dear Inter-Uni ComMUNity,
The Secretariat would like to extend our best wishes to everyone in the nation and across the globe. We understand the current times are unstable and hope that everyone is doing well in each circumstance.
As the Secretary-General of Inter-Uni MUN 2021, I would like to extend my warmest welcome to everyone interested in attending our conference. There have been a few changes, however. Due to a recent lockdown (‘stay-at-home’ order) imposed in most regions of NSW, we have decided that we need to postpone our conference in order to prioritise the health and safety of all attendees.
After cross-referencing countless calendars, we have decided that the new date of our conference will be the 18th and 19th of September. This decision was not made lightly and was a result of numerous days of contemplation. After consideration of various serious factors such as university exam timetables, a possible extension of the lockdown in Sydney and ease of restrictions and the MUN conference schedule in Australia, the Secretariat of Inter-Uni MUN 2021 has decided that postponing our conference to a later date is the most logical decision. We looked into moving our conference online but decided that it will take away a lot of in-person conference components which we have envisioned.
As the Secretary-General of the 2021 Inter-University Model United Nations Conference, I understand that this new date might cause many new problems for individuals. For some, it will be harder to travel interstate later in the semester and for some these new dates might already be busy days. Accordingly, we are building an extensive refund policy for all attendees. I have also decided to build an official website for Inter-Uni MUN 2021 so all the information such as the refund policy can be found at one place. We will also be frequently posting updates on our social media throughout the following weeks for greater access to details. This way we can introduce additional measures to ensure greater accessibility and convenience for all attendees. Please be patient with me as this is currently under construction and will require many elements to be added.
I understand that this is a lot of information to be absorbed and that there will be many other factors involved in the planning of delegations and travel. The team and I will try to respond to any inquiries as soon as we can so we can help you navigate through this process. Please be patient with us as we have to juggle many different tasks to move this conference forward and also have personal issues to look after as well. Nevertheless, we have overcome many challenges in the past year or two and we believe that we can do this together.
Thank you for taking your time to read through this very long message and I hope you have an amazing day!
Kind Regards,
Julia | Secretary-General
